Danville officials have chosen a firm to conduct a parking study for the city.
The office of economic development and tourism has hired Parking Whisperer, an advisory firm based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to lead the parking enforcement strategy study, according to a news release from the office Tuesday.
The firm will provide strategies for parking enforcement in the River District.
“The office of economic development & tourism looks forward to collaborating with Parking Whisperer in creating more effective strategies and enforcement tools to enhance the quality of life in our River District, for both residents and tourists,” Kelvin Perry, assistant director of economic development and tourism, said in a prepared statement. “Due to the exciting growth within the downtown area, this study comes at a crucial time.”
The study will also identify implementation tools, including proposed parking regulations, increased enforcement efforts, and new technologies, which will work in partnership with the Danville Police Department, according to the news release.
“This is an opportunity to engage with the public, area businesses, residents, and drivers of all types to develop a plan to provide ample parking for the city of Danville, which is experiencing substantial growth,” Parking Whisperer founder and CEO John Oglesby said in a prepared statement.
The study began this month and will last 12 weeks, according to the news release.
